How live MetaTrader sync works in Orderblock
An investor password, a terminal we host and an event for every change. How Orderblock gets your MT4 and MT5 trades into your journal the second they happen.

Most trading journals wait for you to export a statement. Orderblock watches your account instead, and the reason it can do that safely is the investor password.
Read-only by design
MetaTrader gives every account two passwords. The master password can trade. The investor password can only look. Orderblock asks for the investor password, so it can see your positions and history but can never open, modify or close a trade. Your password is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
We run the terminal for you
Behind the scenes, Orderblock keeps a fleet of MetaTrader terminals on its own servers. When you connect, one of them signs in to your account and reports what it sees. There is nothing to install, no computer to leave running and no VPS to pay for.
An event for every change
Our MetaTrader integration writes a snapshot whenever something changes and appends each close immediately. The terminal pushes those events to your journal in sequence, so nothing is counted twice and nothing is skipped. Open positions and equity update while you trade.
What you need
- Your platform: MT4 or MT5
- Your account login
- The exact server name, copied from the terminal
- A read-only investor password
That is it. Connect your broker or read more about the MT4 and MT5 journal.
