Two ways in

  1. Statement import, available today

Export closed trades from MetaTrader as a delimited file, upload it, map the columns and review the preview. Orderblock reads comma, semicolon and tab-delimited files and preserves the exact reported values.

  2. Live connection, through a terminal we run

Orderblock runs an MT4 or MT5 terminal for you, logged in with read-only investor credentials. Open positions, live equity and every close are pushed to your journal as they happen. It needs the platform version, account login and the exact broker server name.

  3. Reconcile before you rely on it

Compare a sample of imported trades against the native statement: commissions, swap, partial closes and account currency. Import is not acceptance.

Why investor credentials

A MetaTrader trade journal is one workspace whichever platform you use. An MT4 trading journal and an MT5 trading journal are the same thing here: the platform only changes how the closed trades arrive. Once imported, the analytics, journal and calendar behave identically for both.

A MetaTrader investor password grants read-only access. It cannot open, modify or close a position. Orderblock requires it rather than a master password because a journal has no legitimate reason to hold trading rights over your account.

Stored broker credentials are encrypted. Use the connection form inside the product; never email a password to support. If a route ever asks for a master password, that is a reason to stop, not a configuration step.

MetaTrader questions

Do MT4 and MT5 have an OAuth API like modern brokers?

No. MetaTrader has no universal OAuth standard, which is why the connection runs through a terminal that logs in with read-only investor credentials rather than an API token. Any product claiming a simple universal MetaTrader OAuth connection is describing something else.

Can I journal a demo account?

Yes. Demo accounts connect the same way; use the exact server name for the demo environment, which usually differs from the live one.

What if my broker server is not supported?

Use CSV statement import. It covers any MetaTrader export of closed trades and has no per-server compatibility requirement.
