Import trades from a CSV statement
Import closed trades from any broker with a CSV or TSV export: map the columns once, review the preview, and re-import safely without creating duplicates.
Guided import works for every broker, and it needs no broker credentials at all. Export your closed trades from the broker, upload the file, check the preview and save.
Import a file
- Export closed trades (sometimes called closed positions or a trade history report) from your broker as CSV or TSV.
- In Orderblock, open Trade history → Import trades and choose the trading account the trades belong to.
- Upload the file or paste its contents.
- Review the column mapping. Orderblock detects common column names and separators; fix anything it got wrong.
- Check the preview, then save.
Orderblock remembers the mapping for that layout, so the next import from the same broker is two clicks.
The preview
Nothing is saved until you confirm. The preview shows how many trades are new, how many are duplicates, the open and closed counts and the net P&L. Re-importing the same file never creates duplicates. If the same trade ID appears with different values, the whole import is stopped so nothing is half-written.
What files work
| Supported | Details |
|---|---|
| Formats | CSV or TSV with comma, semicolon, tab or pipe separators. UTF-8 or UTF-16. |
| Size | Up to 4 MB, 10,000 rows and 100 columns per file. |
| Layout | Statement preambles are fine; you can set the header row and separator yourself. |
| Numbers | Regional decimal and thousands separators, signed fees, separate commission, swap and tax columns, net or gross P&L. |
| Dates | ISO, numeric, month names, split date and time columns, Unix and Excel timestamps. |
Dates without a time zone need the report’s time zone. Ambiguous dates such as 03/04 and daylight-saving changes ask you to confirm rather than guess.
Common problems
- ”Fill or execution rows”: the file lists orders or fills, not trades. Export closed trades or closed positions instead. Orderblock will not silently stitch fills into trades.
- Wrong dates or times: set the report time zone and check the day and month order.
- Fees counted twice: tell Orderblock whether the P&L column is net or gross, and map total fees only once.
- Futures or options look wrong: supply the contract multiplier.
- Currency mismatch: the file’s P&L currency must match the trading account. Orderblock never invents an exchange rate.
